Are you living in the Comfort Zone or the Growth Zone or somewhere in between? How would your career be different if you occupied the Growth Zone?
A few years ago, I was working with a Fortune 500 executive client whose growth was being hindered by her perfectionism. Although a common telltale sign of fear of failure, it can be both insidious and powerful. She acknowledged that as her work became more complex so did her perfectionism, to the point that she felt gripped by it.
We worked on reframing her success criteria. Instead of "perfect work", she shifted to embracing doing work that expressed her values and had long-lasting, positive impacts on her organization and team. This more accurate definition unleashed a creativity in successfully overcoming obstacles she forgot she had.
What is holding you back from the Growth Zone? What would happen if you let go of its grip?
